Boxes softened in the summer heat, handles tore, and a quick rain shower left a few belongings damp. As a Birmingham Realtor, I’d heard the same complaints from clients and movers for years. So I built the better option: clean, sturdy, reusable bins delivered to your door and picked up when the move is done.
A Mississippi move, a Birmingham summer and a better idea
The idea didn’t begin with a business plan. It began while I was helping family move from Mississippi to Birmingham, in the middle of a Southern summer.
The heat and humidity took a toll on the cardboard boxes. Some softened and started collapsing under their own weight. Handles tore when we tried to lift them. Then a quick rain shower rolled through while the movers were unloading, and a few belongings inside the boxes got damp.
As a Realtor, I’d heard the same frustrations from clients for years — boxes that were hard to carry, impossible to stack neatly, and another mess to break down after the move. Movers told me the same thing: mismatched cardboard boxes shift, crush, and rarely load as securely as they should.
Standing there in the heat, watching another box give way, I remember thinking: there has to be a better way.

I’ve been a Realtor in the Birmingham area for 9 years, and I started Alabama Moving Bins because I got tired of watching my clients wrestle with cardboard on moving day. This is a local business, run by someone who lives here and answers the phone — not a franchise.
When I’m not delivering bins, you’ll usually find me on the sidelines at one of the area sports parks cheering on my kids, trying a new restaurant with my wife, or volunteering at our church.
